BREAKING NEWS. THIS IS WYFF NEWS FOUR AT SIX. OUR FIRST HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FOR TOMORROW NOON TO 8 P.M. THE HEAT INDEX, POSSIBLY IN THE LOW TO MID ONE HUNDREDS. WE’LL TALK ABOUT HOW LONG THE HEAT LASTS AND MORE ON THE FIRST HURRICANE OF THE YEAR. COMING UP NEXT. THEN ALSO TODAY WAS THE UPSTATE BLACK PRIDE. BUT THE EVENT TOOK A TURN. WHAT HAPPENED DURING THE FESTIVITIES. WELL, A LIVE SUPER DOPPLER FOUR IMPACT DAY. I’VE GOT METEOROLOGIST GRIFFIN HARDY HERE. YOU KNOW, GRIFFIN, THE RAIN WAS PLAYING HIDE AND GO SEEK, AND THEN IT KIND OF WAS A HEAT ADVISORY. WHAT’S ALL COOKING? YEAH, SO THERE’S A LOT TO UNPACK IN THE FORECAST, RIGHT? YEAH. WE HAVE SOME HIT AND MISS SHOWERS, ONE OF WHICH PASSED THROUGH GREENVILLE EARLIER TODAY. A LOT OF US HOPING FOR RAIN BECAUSE IT’S BEEN ABNORMALLY DRY THIS MONTH. WE’VE GOT A LITTLE BIT OF IT BUT NOT EVERYWHERE. IT’S VERY HIT OR MISS IN NATURE. AND STILL SOME RAIN COOLED AIR LINGERING IN GREENVILLE, 87 DEGREES. LOOK AT THE DEW POINT THOUGH. 74. THAT’S REALLY HIGH. IT MAKES IT FEEL MORE LIKE 95 DEGREES OUTSIDE HEAT INDEX AT 100 IN PICKENS, 98. IN CLEMSON IS WHAT IT FEELS LIKE 97 IN HARTWELL, 100. THE HEAT INDEX IN ELBERTON. THE HEAT INDEX IS GOING TO BE AN IMPORTANT NUMBER TOMORROW BECAUSE THIS REALLY HIGH HUMIDITY IS GOING TO BE HAPPENING AT THE SAME TIME THAT WE HAVE HIGHS IN THE MID 90S. SO HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FIRST ONE SO FAR THIS SUMMER. DRINK PLENTY OF WATER TOMORROW AND LIMIT YOUR TIME OUTSIDE IF YOU CAN. THAT IS BEFORE SCATTERED STORMS ARRIVE AT AROUND 3 TO 7 P.M. TOMORROW. HERE’S A LOOK AT THE SATELLITE AND RADAR PICTURE RIGHT NOW. PRETTY QUIET WEATHER WISE. WE HAD A FEW SHOWERS THAT ROLLED THROUGH GREENWOOD COUNTY, SPARTANBURG COUNTY, AND GREENVILLE COUNTIES EARLIER TODAY, BUT REALLY, MOST OF THE RAIN COVERAGE, AT LEAST FOR NOW, IS UP TOWARDS WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA. IT’S PRETTY SPARSE. ONE LITTLE DOWNPOUR THERE JUST TO THE NORTHWEST OF BURNSVILLE, BUT PRETTY QUIET ACROSS MOST OF BUNCOMBE COUNTY, WITH A LITTLE BIT OF SHOWERS WEST OF TOWN. BUT OTHER THAN THAT, THE CHANCE OF RAIN WILL BE THERE FOR THE REST OF THE NEXT 12 HOURS. AT LEAST THROUGH THE OVERNIGHT TONIGHT. STILL POSSIBLE WE GET SOME MORE RAIN AFTER MIDNIGHT, BUT IT WILL BE AGAIN VERY HIT OR MISS. IT LOOKS LIKE IT WON’T BE UNTIL LATE TOMORROW AFTERNOON. THAT WE GET SCATTERED EVEN WIDESPREAD SHOWERS OR STORMS NEXT 12 HOURS IN THE MOUNTAINS LOOKING PRETTY SIMILAR AS WELL. WARM OVERNIGHT TONIGHT AS TEMPERATURES STAY IN THE 70S. AND YES, WE HAVE OUR FIRST HURRICANE OF THE SEASON IN LATE JUNE TO TALK ABOUT HURRICANE BERYL OF THE FORECAST TRACK FOR THIS IN JUST A FEW MINUTES. WELL, IN DOWNTOWN GREENVILLE, PRIDE MONTH CELEBRATIONS TOOK PLACE. BUT PROTESTERS OF OPPOSING VIEWS SHOWED UP TO THE EVENT. OUR JAMIE REED IS LIVE WITH MORE. REPORTER YEAH, YEAH. MYA THAT’S RIGHT. TODAY WAS A BLACK PRIDE MARCH AND FESTIVAL, BUT IT TOOK A TURN. THE FESTIVAL WAS MEANT TO BE A FUN OCCASION. THINGS TOOK A TURN BECAUSE IT WAS MET BY PROTESTERS, CAUSING SOME FIRED UP ALTERCATIONS. IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE AN EVENT FOR CELEBRATION AND FELLOWSHIP FOR THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY. THERE WERE OVER 100 VENDORS ALL DAY PERFORMANCES, FOOD, DRINKS AND MERCHANDISE. BUT THE ATMOSPHERE DIDN’T SHOWCASE A PLACE OF CELEBRATION. WE’RE GOING TO OUTNUMBER YOU, AND IT’S REALLY HONESTLY MORE FUN FOR US TO COME AND MAKE FUN OF THEM. THEY MAY THINK THAT WE HATE THEM. WE ACTUALLY DON’T HATE THEM, BUT WE HATE THE SIN THAT IS DESTROYING THEIR LIVES. THE BLACK PRIDE MARCH HAPPENED EARLIER THIS MORNING AND THE FESTIVAL ENDED JUST MOMENTS AGO. AND LATER TONIGHT IS THE OFFICIAL UPSTATE BLACK PRIDE. AFTER PARTY AT THE JUSTIN MILL SOCIAL INNOVATION CENTER FROM 9 P.M. TO 2 A.M. LIVE IN GREENVILLE, JAMYA. JAMYA WYFF NEWS FOUR. THANKS, JAMYA.
